Sue (Richards) was born and bred in the multiculturalism of Sydney, Australia. She has a universal belief in the energy of indigenous cultures and the love and emotional intelligences of people to create peace and harmony in the world. Sue met The Virtues Project in New Zealand and became a Virtues Facilitator in 1996 under the guidance of Beth Lew and Margaret Mohamed. Sue conducted workshops for educators, children, couples and families whilst working with the Maori population in the North Island of New Zealand. Her work in a small rural community was used as a model for the implementation of The Virtues Project as a whole school behaviour initiative. She began a Virtues Connection in her area and attended all the South Pacific Mentoring Conferences. Sue's passion is working with children, who then invite their families and teachers into the work as they become inquisitive about the reason for the "change" in their children. She has developed ways to include the virtues into the classroom using sharing circles...called 'korero tahi' or 'talking together' where problem stories can be eliminated using the strength of the virtues the class or individual has.
In 2002 Sue (now Ferguson) moved to the UK to be with her Scottish husband. Since then she has worked throughout the European Union with Margaret Mohamed conducting courses for all groups in all languages and helping to establish new facilitators and Virtues NGOs in areas as they develop. Courses conducted in Holland, Spain, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Germany and United Kingdom have opened the way for new Facilitators to be trained and supervised. In her own work in the UK as Project Manager for children with disabilities, Sue works with educators, welfare groups, parents and health departments in the implementation of the Virtues Project Strategies into their workplaces.
